Biography

Alex Jellici started his cello studies with Luca Fiorentini at the Claudio Monteverdi Conservatoire of his hometown Bolzano (Italy). In 2014 Alex studied at the University of Arts in Vienna within an Erasmus exchange programme. He graduated with the highest qualifications in 2015 from the University of Arts of Zurich (CH), studying with Orfeo Mandozzi and baroque cello and viola da gamba with Martin Zeller. Alex works as a solo cellist with La Cetra Barockorchester Basel and the European Union Baroque Orchestra and collaborates with several ensembles including Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, Ensemble Zefiro, London Bach Society, Il Gusto Barocco, Orchestra La Scintilla, Barocksolisten München and Illyria Consort. He has performed in festivals such as Glyndebourne Opera Festival, London Baroque Festival, Stresa Festival, Serate Musicali di Milano, Suntory Hall Chamber Music Garden. As a soloist and chamber musician with historical instruments he is a founding member of the baroque ensemble Cardinal Complex and performs with musicians including Lars Ulrik Mortensen, Rachel Podger, Stefano Montanari, Bojan Čičić, Gemma Bertagnolli, Roel Dieltiens and Juan Manuel Quintana. He is the cellist and Artistic Director of the Ensemble TaG - Neue Musik Winterthur (CH) and teaches baroque cello and violoncello at the Musikschule Konservatorium Zürich. www.alexjellici.com
