Biography

Somegirl formed in the fall of 2000 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Stephen Mork, an electronic musician of some 15 years, placed an ad for a female vocalist looking to form a songwriting duo. Kristin Buckman responded and in short-order Somegirl was formed. After releasing their first album "I've Been Known To Be Completely Wrong", Kristin decided to leave the band and move to the west coast of the United States. In the summer of 2003, Steve decided to find a new singer and begin work on the second Somegirl CD. Another ad was placed in the same local independent paper and this time Amanda Cruz was chosen to be the vocalist after several meetings and auditions. Adding a darker, more seductive pop voice to Steve's electronics, the new duo immediately began recording new material. Somegirl's second full-length release, She's Full of Secrets. In February 2006, Laura Mitchell from Endless Blue took on the lead vocalist duty in Somegirl. Being no stranger to the lead vocal position and having worked with a number of bands writing and recording music, Laura brought experience and maturity to the band. Somegirl V3 released "The Velvet Hour" in 2008. Since then, Somegirl has focused on working with different singers from all over the world. On June 1st, 2018, Somegirl's latest EP "Some Grrrl (Retouched) was released. Somegirl's 16 year-anniversary compilation called "Sweet 16" is now available. CELEBRATE WITH US!
