Biography

Jürgen Franz Is one of the most varied flutists of his generation. Jürgen Franz studied in Stuttgart with Jean Claude Gérard and further studies brought him to Maxence Larrieu and Sir James Galway who both had a great influence on him. Jürgen Franz was member of the Bielefeld Philharmonic Orchestra and the Stuttgart Philharmonic Orchestra. Since 2000 he is a member of the NDR Elbphilharmonie Orchestra in Hamburg. Jürgen Franz played as Solo flutist in the philharmonic orchestra from "La Scala di Milano", the Richard Wagner Festival orchestra in Bayreuth. Lorin Maazel invited Jürgen Franz to play as solo flutist with the orchestra „Symphonica Toscanini “. He also was a frequently guest in the Berlin Philharmonic. As soloist he toured in Germany, France, Japan, China, Estland the USA and Switzerland. He played concerts with Maxence Larrieu, Sir James Galway, Davide Formisano, Henning Lucius and is a frequently seen guest at the European flute festivals. His Solo CD´s are highly recommend by musicians like Jean Michel Damase or Sir James Galway: »This CD (European Recital) is one of the most interesting to be issued for a long time.  Jürgen Franz is Professor at the Music-University Hamburg. He gives masterclasses in Germany, China, Spain, USA and Japan. Jürgen Franz is a Haynes Artist and plays a 19,5 kt all Gold Flute.
