Francisco del Pino is an Argentinian composer and guitarist currently based in Princeton, NJ. His music, which draws influence from both classical and vernacular traditions, revolves around process and pattern and is usually based on extensive contrapuntal techniques. A ubiquitous collaborator in the late 90’s and early 2000’s Buenos Aires’ indie scene, del Pino colored the works of songwriters such as Juan Ravioli (Álbum para la Juventud), Marcelo Ezquiaga (Mar del Plata en Invierno) and Julieta Rimoldi (Tierra), among others. Francisco del Pino: Decir, the first album to be released under his own name, described by Bandcamp Daily as “a stunning art-song hybrid”, was released on New Amsterdam Records in May 2021. Classical Post wrote of this album that “del Pino’s vision is ethereal, yet heavy, distinguished, yet humble—and always beautiful.” After graduating from the Universidad Nacional de las Artes in Argentina as a composition student of Fernando Maglia, Francisco del Pino continued his training under the guidance of Gerardo Gandini whose workshops he attended between 2009 and 2011. He is currently a Ph.D. Fellow in composition at Princeton University.
