Over 30 years ago a rock 'n' roll band formed at a Leipzig school. Within five years they went from their first performance to becoming a GbR and designing their own bespoke black-and-white "stripes" stage outfits. From there they continued their rapid ascent playing over 4.000 shows, touring with world-renowned stars such as Chuck Berry and Bill Haley's Comets, producing their own musical shows and themed tours, hosting their own festival weekend at Schloss Trebsen, and even organizing a rock 'n' roll cruise. The quintet knows only one direction: on- and upward! The professional entertainers have over 300 songs from the 1950s and 1960s in their repertoire, but they have also demonstrated that they are much more than a Cover Band. The "stripes" have become their trademark and their jubilee album encapsulates this spirit. Apart from their storming versions of "Blinding Lights" (The Weeknd) and "Step by Step" (New Kids on the Block) the album features only The Firebirds' originals which are just as diverse and exciting as their live performances. The songs encompass rock 'n' roll, rhythm and blues, rockabilly, country, swing, jazz, blues, surf, soul, doo-wop and 60's pop, all with a surprisingly contemporary pop appeal. The crystal-clear and top-modern production by Bernd Batke (Smokestack Lightnin') provides the perfect contrast to the music's nostalgic vibe. The 13 songs on the album impressively showcase The Firebirds' songwriting talent and class.
