Hailing from Baltimore, MD, producer and engineer Young Gelo first started making hip-hop in 2019. Hip-hop has always been a passion for him; he grew up listening to Eminem, Kanye, Lil Wayne, Wale, Meek Mill and Ace Hood, just to name a few. His music taste continued to evolve, always expanding into other sub-genres. This versatility has been at the core of his hip-hop DNA for as long as he can remember - from when he moved to Baltimore from Columbus, OH when he was 6, to when he began experimenting on his first beats. Gelo has always been an avid fan of hip-hop, but what really pushed him to start producing was the influence of Kanye West, Pierre Bourne and Metro Boomin. Their styles exemplified his passions for production. On his debut, Soundcloud-only album “Paradigms”, Young Gelo and fellow MD rapper Real AF experimented with different genres and eras of music to create an album that “spanned paradigms” of music. He incorporated Caribbean, soul, alternative, acoustic and other forms of music into his production on the album, which was met with positive reviews. Since then, Gelo has continued to develop his network, working consistently with fellow OH artists Loh Glizzy, Trevon Ashton and Snvke, as well as MD native Hyde Taylor. 2020 will be a massive year for Young Gelo as he continues to diversify his sound and network and readies the projects he is set to release or be a part of, chief among which is his second album and Spotify debut project, “Elderworld”.
