Real One started out Djing in Chicago around 1996 when he called himself DJ Realness. Djing at small house and loft parties then going to Columbia college where he started doing college radio on WCRX 88.1 FM. With his show "Ill Noize" which he continued to do until around 2002. Real One has put out over 20 mixtapes (cassettes and CDs) and has been on several radio stations as a guest DJ. He has DJ'ed at almost every bar and club in Chicago. Opening DJ for Jurassic, 5 Digital Underground, Slick Rick, Tony Touch, Outkast and many other local and international acts; DJing across the country. He has been a director for several marketing and promotional companies including Def Jux, Ill Boogie, Def Jam and of course Headnock Records. He was a member of Chicago's legendary Bassment Records which hosted several all city mc battles with major acts Rhymfest, Juice, and E.C. IIla to name a few. And was a major force in Chicago's late 90s hip hop scene. Real one has kept the tradition of underground hip hop alive with his DJing. In 2009 Real One entered the world of production working with local artists like Matlock, Visual, Mr. Misfit, Pugs Atomz, EC Illa, and PRism just to name a few. His production influences stem from the Alchemist to Pete Rock to DJ Premier. He now works with Cache 22 his longtime dj partner to make dope beats and projects with Headnock records....
