Jeremy Long is an acclaimed saxophonist, straddling the worlds of jazz and classical music, who’s first jazz quartet album EARTH TONES is out now and features new music inspired by ‘70s rock and jazz — think Led Zeppelin and Wayne Shorter’s Native Dancer. His debut solo album In SUSpension on innova® Recordings was considered for a Grammy nomination for “Best Jazz Instrumental Album.” Critics describe it as, “strong in all respects” (Dan Bilawsky, All About Jazz) and “angular and complex...with lots of twists and turns” (Jazz Weekly). Grammy-winning composer Libby Larsen describes his debut classical solo release Metamorphic as “breathtaking." Dr. Long is also a professor of music at Miami University (OH) specializing in concert saxophone music and jazz. Long has performed with many renowned artists and orchestras, including the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra on their Grammy-nominated album Transatlantic and three international tours, Grammy- and Oscar-winning film composer A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) as a featured soloist for audiences of 40k, both the Blue Wisp Big Band and Cincinnati Contemporary Jazz Orchestra as lead alto saxophonist, and many others, e.g., Ray Charles, Aretha Franklin, Pittsburg Symphony Orchestra, Maria Schneider, John Adams, The Temptations.
