Lucia Honey is a New Orleans-based troubadour and video director. She began performing as a drag queen in art school but was tired of lip syncing other people’s songs, so she began a noise project in 2014. Studying video and performance art, music felt like the perfect place to meld genres and house a pantheon of diva personas. Since then, she’s cultivated a unique blend of poetry pop, dark wave, and folk and made her own way as both a visual and recording artist. She recently directed music videos for local legends, Hurray For The Riff Raff and Ruth Mascelli of Special Interest. Lucia has performed her music across the Americas and Europe using a bizarre vocal modification technique to play with notions of perceived gender and humanity. Most recently, she was an artist in residence at Joan Mitchell Center in New Orleans where she worked on a long form visual album and film. She is currently working on a musical film in Sicily.
