This Strain of the Self

Bitumenic

Sister: Let Hel Hold What She Has

Biography

GNOM resides in a frenetic intersection between trance-techno, new age melodism and progressive rock: it’s about emotional overload in an esoteric ebb of sawtooth synthesizers, velvet textures and harsh riffs. It’s instrumental music loaded with screamo-vocals, crystal clear melodies and the speedy hits of the drum. GNOM is a solemn parasite that simply grows: a brutal grief and a somber repose where light and dark are parallel, not disparate states. The debut-album “Bitumenic” was made with many important people. Brian Batz of Sleep Party People co-produced and co-mixed the album; Angel Marcloid of Fire-Toolz features on vocals and guitar, and mastered the album; Danish black metal artist Seiðr and free-jazz extravanganzo Anders Lauge Meldgaard feature on two songs. Prophetic visual artist Sam Balfus made both album-cover and two accompanying music videos that beautifully encapsulate the messy universe of GNOM.
