Launched in 2013, Mawimbi is a Paris-based collective of DJs and musicians dedicated to building bridges between african musical traditions and contemporary electronic music. For the past seven years, Mawimbi DJs and producers have made a name for themselves by breathing new life into Europe’s music scene with their infectious grooves.   The collective's music navigates between genres and eras in an unconventional way, seamlessly blending afro-house, electronic highlife and shamanic techno into their own dance strain. They have delved deeper into this rather unexplored fusion of electronic and traditional sounds by putting together events showcasing the likes of Auntie Flo, Africaine 808, Esa, José Marquez, The Busy Twist, Batida, Khalab, Aero Manyelo, Clap! Clap!, as well as countless others.   Mawimbi have also helped unearth the talents of numerous artists such as Onipa, Afriquoi, Pouvoir Magique, LOYA and Umeme by putting out vinyl records and curating compilations on their own record label: Mawimbi Records: #Mawimbi Records As producers, they have remixed such names as Oumou Sangaré featuring Tony Allen, Femi Kuti, Calypso Rose, Cerrone as well as many other artists (Evergreen, Kandiafa.
