"A Walk", the debut solo album by acclaimed composer/pianist Uri Brener was released to rave reviews. The album includes 12 pieces played on a vintage piano surrounded with lots of vintage microphones - all recorded in an empty hall. Produced by Lior Suliman & Tal Weiss, it features eight compositions by Uri (one of them based on troubadour songs from the 12th century) alongside compositions by Alexander Eisenstadt, Yann Tiersen and Tal Weiss. Uri was born in Moscow and has been playing the piano since the age of four. After studying and performing in Germany, he moved to Israel and has won a series of highly prestigious awards and scholarships - among them the Israeli Prime Minister prize for composition. He was chosen as the resident composer of the Israel Sinfonietta Beer-Sheva. The Sinfonietta’s 2007-2008 season opened with the worldwide premiere of his concerto for piano and orchestra, “Blarings, Clouds, Celebrations”, conducted by Doron Salomon. The concerto has won a prestigious ACUM award. Since then, Uri has won yet another ACUM award - this time for his "Faust Concerto". In 2010, award winning Canadian cellist Rachel Mercer released her version of Uri's composition, "Dialogue IV", as part of the "Allergy To Consciousness" singles series. Uri's latest release is also a part of the above mentioned series: a "piano/drums clash" version of Brener's "11 O'clock" - with drummer Issar Tennenbaum.
