"People's Champs creatively deliver a unique blend of powerful lyrics and danceable rhythms that relate to people from all walks of life." (Wax Poetics) Brooklyn's People’s Champs are inspired by the idea that music is for everyone. The band creatively combines message-driven songwriting with cutting-edge retro-futurist production and unstoppable dance rhythms to create a truly original sound. With influences as wide-ranging as Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Tune-Yards, William Onyeabor and Prince, critics are calling People’s Champs “A dance party waiting to happen” (Consequence of Sound) and "...somewhere between The Budos Band & The Flaming Lips" (Deli Magazine). The band is fronted by experimental soul singer Starr Busby, best known for her work with Gorillaz and Grammy Award-winner Esperanza Spalding. People’s Champs’ horn section works in-studio with Beyoncé and performed/arranged key parts on the Grammy-winning song “Love on Top.” They’re also the touring horn section for Boy George & Culture Club. People’s Champs has appeared at BRIC’s Celebrate Brooklyn! Festival, NYC Winter Jazz Festival, Lincoln Center, The Wassaic Festival, International Festival of Arts and Ideas, The Guggenheim Museum, The MoMA and has toured throughout the East Coast and Midwest. People's Champs released their first full-length album — “American Dreamers” — in 2015 and are currently working on their second full-length album, due out in 2022.
