Acclaimed for his “maturity and quality of interpretation at the highest level” and his “masterful performances of distinct musical styles” (Diario de Ávila), Flavio Nati performs repertoire ranging from Renaissance to contemporary music throughout Europe, Japan and Korea, both as soloist and in chamber ensembles. He has won more than 30 prizes in national and international competitions and was awarded the Golden Guitar as best up-and-coming artist of 2016 by the renowned International Guitar Convention “Michele Pittaluga” – Alessandria. In 2018, Flavio Nati won the Respighi Prize, offering him the opportunity to make his New York debut at the Carnegie Hall in June 2021. In December 2020, Flavio Nati released his first CD recording, Tōru Takemitsu: Complete Works & Transcriptions (Stradivarius), in a celebration of the 90th anniversary of the Japanese composer’s birth. Flavio Nati credits his musical education to artists such as Paolo Pegoraro, Giuliano Balestra and Oscar Ghiglia, achieving honours for his diploma with Arturo Tallini at the Conservatorium “Santa Cecilia” in Rome and for his Masters with Carlo Marchione at the Conservatorium of Maastricht. Since 2016, he has been teaching in various Italian conservatories; at present, he holds a teaching position at Conservatorium “S. Giacomantonio” in Cosenza and he is regularly invited to give masterclasses in Italy and abroad.
