Praised by the New York Times for his “understated but unmistakable virtuosity” and “winning combination of gentleness and fluidity,” Bulgarian artist Svet Stoyanov is a force in modern percussion. A winner of the Concert Artists Guild International Competition, he enjoys a multifaceted career as a performer, music producer, and educator. Svet’s career highlights feature solo appearances with the Chicago, Houston, and Seattle Symphony Orchestras, as well as solo performances at Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, and Shanghai Symphony Hall, among others. He has commissioned a significant body of repertoire, including Jennifer Higdon’s Duo Duel and Sideman, a Concerto by Mason Bates. As a producer, Svet mixed and co-presented numerous works for The Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music during its 2020 and 2021viertual seasons. Svet is a founding member of the groundbreaking Percussion Collective – a collaboration featuring some of today’s finest percussionists. He currently teaches at the Frost School of Music, University of Miami, where he has collaboratively built one of today’s most innovative percussion programs. Svet Stoyanov’s artistic mission is committed to the authenticity, virtue, and transformative power of music.
