Palanga City Wind Band „Palangos Orkestras“ has been playing music in the exceptional environment of the resort of Palanga, Lithuania since 1953. During this period many concerts were held, „Palangos Orkestras “ participated in various feasts, festivals, radio and television shows. The sound of the „Palangos Orkestras“ has spread beyond Lithuania - the band has performed in Russia, Armenia, Estonia, Latvia, Poland, Germany. There were a lot of victories and various achievements in the band’s history. In 2002 „Palangos Orkestras“ was awarded as winner of their category in the International Bamberg Brass Band Contest in Germany, dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Bavarian Music Society (Nordbayerisches Musikbund). „Palangos Orkestras“ also won the title of the best wind band at the 1st Lithuanian Brass Band Championship. Today’s well-known concerts cycle „Summer of Wind Band“, which cheers the audience every Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the summertime and continues centuries-old tradition of Wind Band Music concerts in Palanga Birutė‘s Park, undoubtedly gained massive popularity to „Palangos Orkestras“. When creating it‘s concert programs, „Palangos Orkestras“ pays special attention to the quality, diversity and Palanga's city's representation. The band constantly strives to emphasize creative potential, collaborates with well-known instrumentalists, singers and conductors. Since 2000 „Palangos Orkestras“ plays under the conductor's Vygantas Rekašius trampoline.
