The duo’s alternative, electronic project weaves jazz harmonies with virtuosic production, incorporating a symphonic approach packed with layered vocal harmonies, syncopated rhythms and a hefty seasoning of glitch. Darius Christian- vocals, trombone, MC - and Carey Clayton - guitar, vocals, production- individually have impressive backgrounds as touring musicians (Gwen Stefani, Macklemore, GreatGoodFineOK), and now join forces to create artistic, brazen racket in the likes of Tyler the Creator, Kaytranada, Thom Yorke, MGMT, and Childish Gambino. In their first EP, Pet Pop 1, Christian and Clayton cleverly combine rich, decorative layers of guitar with hard slapping 808s. From the writhing, tantalizing sway of Snake Oil, you’ll float through effervescent tones of the ironically titled Heavy Dots, and land on a smooth Open Road that gradually turns into thrashing ride across a bombshell crater-filled path.
