Mark Loughrey is an Alt-Folk singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist born in the north of Ireland. His music weaves together elements of Irish folk, ambient soundscapes, field recordings and stream-of-consciousness lyrics. In the years that followed his self-released debut ''Treppenwitz'', he has worked as a street musician, writer, and session musician in Berlin, while also maintaining close ties to Belfast. His music has taken him to the West Coast of the United States, Eastern Europe and Southeast Asia, where he recently toured Thailand and Japan. He is currently working on his sophmore album, ''The Spring Asleep,'' a concept album that explores the soul as it moves through the life cycle. Meanwhile, his joint EP ''Porcupine'', recorded in a single day with fellow Irish artist Joey Gavin in Berlin, is due to be released on Friday, October 13th, 2023.
