S.Crow, formally known as Scarecrow, is a dedicated parent, high school English teacher, and seasoned rapper from Oakland, CA. His album, Choices, deftly blends glimpses of his chaotic upbringing, his comedic desire to keep it as ‘real’ as possible, and his daily struggle with the responsibilities of being grown. S.Crow’s numerous styles and varied subject matter are elevated by diverse production that’s sure to get your head nodding. The first single from the project, “Fairy Talez for Simpler Times,” showcases two of his distinct yet complementary approaches for crafting songs. The A-Side consists of “Fairy Talez,” where chopped rock and blues samples are the backdrop for a boom-bap banger that’s all about wordplay, stylin on fools, and rhyming for the sake of rhyming. The B-Side,”Simpler Times,” pays homage to classics such as “Can it All Be So Simple,” “Dayz of Wayback,” and “Back in the Day.” It is a melodic ode to growing up rough, balanced by a catchy hook honoring the absurd glory of childhood.
