Biography

Montae Clark nicknamed “The Icon” by his peers has always been known by his quiet laid back demeanor offstage, but being a powerhouse on stage. “I count it as a great honor to be a voice of entertainment and encouragement to those in need” is the type of statement most commonly made by this humble artist. Montae was born the youngest son of two singers in the small city of Evansville, Indiana. He didn’t pursue a music career until the age of 15. Some say it was meant for him to be a vocalist despite the fact that he was a late bloomer. He started his singing career with R+B music. During that time he sang with different groups and accomplished things such as; being the opening act for Isaac Hayes, JOE, and R. Kelly and showcased for LA Face Records. Montae then obeyed the voice of God and gave his life to Christ. His passion then shifted from just R+B music to spreading positivity and encouragement through music as well. Then he was blessed to sing background for Donald Lawrence, Lacrecia Campbell, Nikki Ross, and Rodney Bryant. He won the 2008 Inspirational Icon contest for Radio One 1310 The Light in Indianapolis. Montae was featured on the new artist segment of the TV show The Gospel Of Music with Jeff Majors, as well as featuring on two songs on the Holy Hip Hop compilation on EMI records. He also writes, produces, and records his own songs. He says “My desire is to not only produce my own projects, but to help anyone else that I can get their message heard as well”
