Biography

Cork's vibrant music scene welcomes a rising star as hip hop artist jarjarjr (aka Robert O’ Halloran) unveils his debut album, a masterful blend of introspection, rhythm, raw talent and buoyant attitude. Drawing from a diverse range of influences and experiences, jarjarjr’s ‘Catch The Dusk’ will captivate audiences with its palpable depth and groovy passion. Think 1960’s Manhattan cocktail party, but with a twist of Cork pizazz. The album ‘Catch The Dusk’ is the culmination of a decades’ worth of dedication and growth which aims to inspire listeners both figuratively and sonically. The album wows visually too, with David Willis, Brownsauce and Ben Kavanagh directed music videos. After a major change in his life, jarjarjr found solace behind the wheel of a Toyota Yaris, heuristically muttering affirmations that would eventually become the opening lines of his first song: "North Face Duffel Bag." Unbeknownst to him, it marked the beginning of a four-year journey. With 13 tracks, jarjarjr hopes the album will offer solace to those facing challenges. jarjarjr explains, "I hope this album gives a bit of hope to some lonely lady or lost fella out there. To show someone who’s faced with the task of starting over that there’s a light at the end of the tunnel." With two massively successful Guinness Cork Jazz festivals under his belt, jarjarjr’s live ensemble has become a frenetic and sophisticated jazz rap tour de force.
