Guinu is a composer, musician, and producer originally from Minas Gerais, Brazil. Born into a musical family, Guinu was immersed from birth in the sounds of jazz, pop, rock, and various forms of Brazilian music. He has collaborated with several notable Brazilian artists, including the hip-hop band Planet Hemp and Bahian rapper Baco Exu do Blues. In 2019, after a decade of living amidst Rio de Janeiro's vibrant culture, Guinu recorded his second LP, Palagô. This album delves into his relationship with the city, his deep connection to the roots of Brazilian music, and African rhythms. Recorded live in the studio, Palagô captures the sonic qualities and textures reminiscent of 1970s analog recordings. In August 2024, Guinu released Oxalatrix, his third studio album. Continuing his fascination with urban landscapes, Guinu now presents a psycho-city called "Oxalatrix." He follows Palagô's approach of using "hot bases" recorded live with Guinu (keys and vocals) and a exceptional band featuring João Moreira (bass), Estevan Cipri (drums), Gustavo Pereira (guitar), and Lucas Maciel (percussion). However, in Oxalatrix, Guinu incorporates editing techniques and layered vocals, bringing modern and profound sounds to the live session. The album features special appearances by Alma Thomas, Aguidavi do Jêje, Gabi Guedes, Curumin, Juliane Gamboa, Thiago França, JLZ and Matéria Prima.
