Lake Town is the recording moniker of Texas native Josiah Fling. While attending community college in 2009, he released very rough recordings on The Winter EP on now defunct sites Purevolume and Myspace. In the summer of 2014 between community college and state college, Josiah recorded 24 demos that he would release as the album Identity. After getting some recording education, Josiah started working on an album tentatively titled "Dorm Demos". Eventually the title would end up on "Dorm Demons" and an Idiegogo was successfully funded to release a sophomore album. After almost four years, the songs written in 2015 were finally released on all streaming platforms and compact disc in spring 2019. The unreleased demos from the Dorm Demons era were released in October 2019, titled Dorm Demos. On Dorm Demons - "The project features 13 original tracks, including the title track, which also serves as an opener. This song makes me think of artists like Death Cab For Cutie, Elliott Smith and Sparklehorse, particularly due to the cool double-tracked vocals. On tracks such as “I Want to Love” and “Sick In My Bones” are upbeat, yet still charming and minimalistic. These tracks make me think of bands like early Coldplay, Wilco or Calexico, giving Lake Town’s sound an edgier feel. There is also room for electronic experiments, especially on songs like “To Escape With You,” which features drum machine sounds and bubbly synth tones." - Andrew for BandcampDiaries
