A project launched in 2011 by producer and engineer Hasan Rahmatullah. Basmala made its global debut in 2016, with the Basmala Lp via London's Southern Record Distribution, with a fresh take on afro-futurism. It drew parallels from critics with Antipop Consortium and 1970s black fusion jazz funk. Much like Brainfeeder's offerings. However, a sophomore album never materialized. Rahmatullah continued to work on other projects under Bil Basmala, PER Music Library, and Autolect releases. The Basmala moniker remained dormant until 2022, when he released Urban Sufi Music: ONE. In 2023, Hasan released two more albums under the Basmala name, while also working on projects from acklan, Dhua, and Hasan -Vs- Goliath.
