Biography

The Assembly consists of Mpho "Captain" Molise, Melvin "Melly Mel" Biza and Lebo Mochudi. Most popularly known for collaborating with Sean Price, SkyZoo and many more notable global Hip Hop acts, The Assembly delivers an ingeniously potent, organically African authentic sound, filled with a cocktail of rhymes that explore the legends, folklore and myths of our rich African history. The Assembly lyrically depict vividly over the instrumental, that reeks of cinematic over tones, African chants and sounds of traditional African women wailing in the background. Melvin “Melly-Mel” Biza simply sees himself as a spirit on the journey of life. A student of the rap art-form since he first penned a verse in 2001, he has come to incorporate multiple genres in his creations. He is a sought after collaborator on the international stage, with his latest offering being “New People” with American producer, Tone Spliff. Mpho “Captain” Molise is currently signed to Money First Entertainment/Bentey as a soloist. He has been steadily growing his fan base through live performances alongside label head and Hip Hop/Rap icon, PRO. He has recently released his solo debut, “The Ape Tape”. Lebo Mochudi is a multi-faceted vocalist with his hip-hop roots firmly in poetry and the spoken word. His work has seen him collaborate with the likes of Reason and AKA, and icons such as Tumi Molekane and Ian Kamau. He has fronted bands such as Voodoo Child and Evening Machine.
