Biography

Tee-Set was one of the few Dutch bands with an international appeal. Including releases under other artist’s names, like Don’t You Leave, In Your Eyes, Linda Linda and Red Red Wine, they had 26 hits. But the group became downright immortal thanks to Ma Belle Amie, which became a worldwide hit in 1970. The song reached the top 10 in various European countries and the top 5 on the leading American Billboard Hot 100. And let’s not forget their overwhelming chart success in Australia, Germany, Canada, France, Italy and Switzerland. In Africa it even became a number 1 hit! Worldwide, six million physical copies were sold. All this within one year. In the Benelux it was She Likes Weeds, which reach a golden record status, that became Tee-Sets biggest hit and ended up at number 1 spot in the Dutch top 40. TEE-SET & PETER TETTEROO - 75 - anniversary edition 8 July 2022 Peter Tetteroo would have turned 75. A day to celebrate and reflect on all the beautiful things he has given us and others with the Tee-Set. To honor him, a special album '75' with no fewer than 25 songs has been compiled. In addition to the Matt Pop versions of the hit singles Ma Belle Amie & Do It Baby, the no. 1 hit She Likes Weeds is a 2.0 mix. Shortly before his death, Peter expressed his wish to provide his version of The Water Is Wide with a new arrangement, co-produced by John Sonneveld feat. Hans Vermeulen, Ray Fenwick & Annie Kavanagh. This unreleased track is now on the album '75' and single.
