Jemzel is a Filipino/Australian alternative artist and producer making music in a bedroom. She creates her music with the use of transparent songwriting based on personal experiences, thoughts and emotions that resonate with a wide audience. Growing up in an environment and culture filled with music, Jemzel’s love for singing and playing instruments came to life early in her childhood. What separates Jemzel from the crowd is her motif of self-production and solo writing. At the age of 11, she started using the internet to learn about music production and audio engineering. After debuting in June 2022, Jemzel’s sentimental songwriting led to her being crowned as Triple J Unearthed High 2022’s ‘Class Shakespeare’. She followed this up in 2023 after being dubbed the ‘Quiet Achiever’. Her single 'Tell Nobody' was released in early 2023. The track quickly gained attention on social media, amassing 500,000 listens and counting. Jemzel is set to have a musically eventful 2024 with the release of 'breaking my limbs', a single from her upcoming debut EP – STARRY-EYED. With two more singles to be released, anticipation is rising for the artist’s project. A project ultimately about overcoming teenage heartbreak. Her evident versatility across genres, resonant pen game, and recognised talent has made Jemzel a force to be reckoned with.
