COBJU9 is a Rock band created by a group of friends in 2018, in Tarrafal City, Cape Verde. The strong common passion for music is the main reason for the creation of the band. In its prime, the band was a free time hobby, focused solely on making covers of some of the most outstanding and well-known music in the rock universe around the world. After a while, the band decided to change their focus from covering other bands music to creating originals. Their purpose is to gain they own space in the music universe, promote Rock in Cape Verde and prove that Rock is not Dead! COBJU9: The Name! Many people wonder about the meaning and origin of the name Cobju9. Finding a consensual name for the band was a process that took time. There were many ideas and suggestions but none of them were convincible. When the band started, there wasn´t enough gear. The band depended on a single guitar amplifier to rehearse, as the 2 guitars (and sometimes even the bass guitar!) were plugged in it during the rehearsals. It goes without saying that there was a huge dependency on this amp and its presence was needful. It was so important that it earned a name: Conjunto (a word used to refer to the set of a band). One day, the bassist wrote a message in the bands chat with the intent of reminding the owner of the amp to bring it to the rehearsal. As he wrote in a hurry, he mispelled the word Conjunto and wrote Cobju9 instead. A fortunate accident gave the band the so expected and consensual name.
