Biography

Born on October 14th, 1981 in Lemoore, CA, Aaron Burnett began studying classical saxophone at the age of 9 became interested in jazz music around the age of 16. He studied classical and jazz performance at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro from 1999 - 2001, then relocated to Boston and began studying at the Berklee College of Music for classical composition in 2005, graduating in 2008 with a degree in Professional Music. 
 Shortly after graduating from Berklee, Aaron toured in Esperanza Spalding’s Radio Music Society from 2012 - 2013, performing on Jay Leno, David Letterman, The Daily Show, Jimmy Kimmel, and in 40 countries around the world. In 2015 Aaron received the Jerome Foundation Emerging Artist Grant, and has also received multiple grants and residencies and Roulette Intermedium in Brooklyn. Aaron was awarded his first Grammy certificate for his feature on "With Others" on Esperanza Spalding's 2020 album "12 Little Spells''. He has also performed with many other great musicians such as Vijay Iyer, Teri Lyne Carrington, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Michelle Rosewoman, Jeff Tain Watts, Kim Thompson, Ravi Coltrane, and more. 
 Aaron Burnett and the Big Machine released their debut album in 2013 with “I Thoth So”, followed by the latest, “Anomaly”, which was released by Fresh Sound Records in 2018 and received a 3.5 star rating from DownBeat.
