preston.outatime (aka Preston Parris) has been producing underground electronic music since the early 2000s. From a background producing DnB and Hip-Hop his sound has evolved away from dance floor to include diverse electronic and organic elements. His first commercial EP, ‘Enceladus’, had intended to be a larger work. As some of the recordings were lost, a line was drawn under it, so work could begin anew on ‘Saros Cycles’. This first full album was an attempt to cut back from sampling and create something new whilst also working within constraints. This assemblage was a deeper exploration of synthesis and ornamentation, attempting to strip the complexities of over-production. Coming off the back of this, ‘Coplanar’ is a more mature work. A mantle of electronics coupled with organic input and found sounds/field recordings. The first single ‘Thermals’ combines themes of structure, unfurling geometry and pairing of spaces. Many of the tracks on this LP started longform and were crystallised after being played live. Others or had been two or three ideas, stripped of waste and merged together.
