Music industry veteran SERGIO OTAEGUI has managed to find relevance across 16 years of work. First making a splash in 2005 with ALWAYS RUSHING BY & forming THIEVES AND VILLAINS in 2007. Three weeks on the Van’s Warped Tour lead to two successful albums on VICTORY RECORDS and after disbanding in 2010, Otaegui re-emerged as SERGIOISDEAD, and began producing. At the forefront of the “cloud-rap” genre, he crafted cuts for LIL B, MAIN ATTRAKIONZ, PERRION, DAVINCI, & more. Receiving exposure and acclaim from ROLLING STONE, THE FADER, & PITCHFORK, Otaegui released 5 mixtapes and countless remixes leading to his debut single “U (feat. merges)” which debuted on Spotify’s “New Music Friday” leading to over 120,000 streams in 24 hrs. The single reached #7 on Billboard’s Global Viral Chart & quickly amassed over 1 million streams. Following the success of his debut, SERGIOISDEAD signed to AVICII’s PRMD label via Warner Bros. Two singles followed garnering placements on top Spotify & Apple Music playlists + remixes for SYN COLE, TWO LANES, & ZEALYN. What followed was work with a new generation of artists signed to Sony Music’s QUADIO RECORDS. Starting in 2020, he helped fuel TALIA to success on her debut EP “Headrush,” & further production followed for HANNAH HAUSMAN. In 2021 SERGIOISDEAD has been in collaboration with MNYS, working towards his debut album for PURE NOISE RECORDS. SERGIOISDEAD once again finds himself still around, still important, & all too grateful for it.
