Kareem “YZ THE WAVE” John was born June 1st 1989, in st. Croix, Virgin Islands. Although he was born in the Virgin Islands, he actually lived in Antigua until he was five years old, that’s when his mother, brother and himself moved to Indianapolis,Indiana. His mother settled in the 43rd block of Moller rd, it’s here where he would spend his childhood, fall in love with music, learn about the streets and later on see his friends fall to the streets. He also states that he “first began making music as a young child because out of all the music he heard, rap was what he felt like he could relate to, and the only representation of the black community he could relate to came from hip hop music and videos. Currently, YZ THE WAVE is a signed artist under Bank Talk records, his debut album, ULTRA, released Sep.1st 2023, followed by a joint album with Mark Battles, and another project with label mate DaBwoi Fane entitled “Long romantic walks to the bank”, which will all be followed up by his sophomore album “Didn’t Disappoint”, to which “YZ” states is “already done and super fire!” The ceiling is very high for this YZ THE WAVE, with trendy music that still holds a deep meaning, over flashy beats and todays slang has set himself up to become the leader of the new school as his music transcends and resonates at a wide spectrum
