Born in New York City, NY, and raised in the Hudson Valley (845 area) of New York State, Thought Provokah found inspiration from hip-hop by hanging around his older brother, who is eight years his senior and was present from the inception of hip-hop. He also drew influence from the soul, blues, jazz, and funk music played by his father, who was a part of the Traditionalists or Silent Generation, the architects of the hip-hop sound. Thought Provokah is an introspective lyricist whose words resonate long after the music stops.
