Robbie Rulah is a producer alias for multi-instrumentalist Robin Cochrane. Robbie Rulah’s music is mostly instrumental, and draws heavily on his deep knowledge of African music and groove, all with a steady, hypnotic beat and a colorful mix of electronic and acoustic sounds. In the center of the new Robbie Rulah sound is the West African balafon and various other African instruments with which Robbie, a life-long student of African music, creates a uniquely authentic but updated version of the music he grew up listening to.
