Biography

Unnati literally means “prosperity” in Hindi. Unnati’s first public performance was at the tender age of 4 years old in front of an audience of 3,000 people. Unnati grew up performing and training with her father, Indian Classical vocalist Nitai Dasgupta (a disciple of Ustad Amir Khan). 
 Unnati released her first album with sister Preeti in India. The album titled, “Vishwa – The Universe of Music” had a successful 6 City India tour. Unnati is a semi-finalist of the Glastonbury Unsigned Artistes Jazz World heat. 
 Unnati has since performed at prestigious venues globally; The Royal Albert Hall, Southbank Centre, Cadogan Hall, Mexico’s Cervantino Festival, Boubou’s Music Festival in the Caribbean, Kala Ghoda Arts Festival in Mumbai and Pizza Express Jazz Club in London. 
 Unnati is the first artist to sing a bhajan at Westminster Abbey for Sir Richard Attenborough’s Memorial Service. Unnati sang “Raghupati Raaghav” one of Gandhi’s favourite bhajans (Hindu hymn) from “Gandhi” directed by Sir Richard Attenborough. Ben Kingsley recited a poem & Unnati sang from the organ loft. 
 DJ Ravin choose “Teri Yaad Aati Hain” (from Unnati’s forthcoming album, Indigo Soul) to feature on Buddha Bar’s “The Ultimate Experience”. Unnati’s voice has featured in a sound installation at the V&A. 
 Unnati’s music has an international crossover sound featuring elements of Indian Classical, Spiritual, Folk, Jazz & Pop. Unnati is releasing her debut solo album, “Indigo Soul” on 28th February 2020.
