Jazzchor Freiburg is known for a high standard in terms of choir culture, inspired projects and rousing concerts. Having been founded in the year 1990 by Bertrand Gröger who has also conducted it ever since, it is the German Jazz choir. Extensive tours have allowed the choir to perform in many countries of Europe and Asia. The concerts always offer special experiences, be it from the choir by itself or featuring guests (such as Bobby McFerrin, Swingle Singers, Torun Eriksen), accompanied by band or even orchestra (such as the Bamberger Symphoniker, the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg). Its new repertoire “Infusion” is a step towards the revolutionary: purely instrumental pieces by Pat Metheny, Herbie Hancock, Steps Ahead and Esbjörn Svensson now lyricised and newly arranged.
