MANHAKIM was born in Alexandria, Virginia in 2000. His parents, both natives of Sierra Leone, West Africa moved over to the US in the 90's in pursuit of their American Dream. From a young age, family members can recall MANHAKIM performing Cassidy’s ‘Im A Hustla’ for hours on what seemed like an everyday basis. In 2020, the world was introduced to a new (covid-19) pandemic that placed everything on hold. Delaware played a huge role in Hakim's start in music, with songs "Chasin the Dream" and "METAVERSE" and "Follow My Dreams PT.2" being released. MANHAKIM has always had a love for the afrobeat/reggae sound, but also had an interest for alternative/rock sounds as well. (Shout out to Bastille and James Fauntleroy!)
