What Is the Point?

Autumn Girl

Biography

Mason Green, a native of Prior Lake, Minnesota, began writing songs as a high school student in the mid-2000s. In 2006, he made a brief appearance in the movie Akeelah and the Bee as one of the spellers. This was actual footage from the 2004 Scripps National Spelling Bee, where he had placed 16th. Apart from music and spelling, his other interests include geometry, art (especially fractals and AI-generated images), inventing, computers, history, and current events. The first song idea Mason ever came up with, "Autumn Girl", was inspired by a close friend of his. Due to the intensely personal nature of the lyrics, it took him nearly 15 years to finish the song, but persistence paid off! Musically, the song ended up as a tribute to 1950s rockabilly star Buddy Holly (featuring a vocalist who portrayed him in the stage musical, The Buddy Holly Story). Mason is also interested in other styles of music as well, and intends to record more songs in the future (either with his own vocals or guest vocalists, as would best fit the needs of each track). He has performed regularly on the online talent show, Tanjareen's Top Talent. Mason is on the autism spectrum and wants to be an advocate for others who struggle with mental health issues. Out of all the places Mason has traveled to so far, Venice is probably his favorite. But Assisi (also in Italy) and Taxco (in Mexico) would be close runner-ups as well. Mason is always eager to learn and try new things, both in music and in life.
