Described as a 'veteran of the underground' and a 'lynchpin of ambient-electro' by some, Datassette produces with an assured feel for the intricacies of emotional and addictive electronic music across a wide range of sub-genres, inventing a few new ones along the way. An extensive and diverse back catalogue includes albums, EPs and remixes for Central Processing Unit, Lapsus, Future Massive, Apollo (R&S), Shipwrec, Ai Records and Frequency Domain. Commissions and appearances include a ten-channel immersive soundscape for the Norwegian Maritime Museum in Oslo, a main-stage performance with C64/teletext artist Raquel Meyers at the L.E.V. festival in Spain, 8-bit videogame sound effects for Pixeljam in North Carolina, GPS-activated music inspired by architecture for the MSCTY global project, and countless eclectic DJ sets around the UK and Europe. In between production work he also curates the much loved Music For Programming series of podcasts, and co-runs Misc., a label specialising in releasing unexpected side-projects from artists and musicians.
