Biography

Often cited as a “conscious” rapper, Metri Christ prides himself as a versatile artist. Born in South Hill, Virginia, He was diagnosed with a rare heart condition that required immediate surgery. He felt his purpose of life was bigger than self. At the age of six, he fell in love with writing, generating short stories and poems, soon to be inspired by rap songs he would hear on radio. His early inspirations were artists such as 50 Cent, 2pac, Outkast, and many more.
Growing up, Metri Christ displayed numerous characteristics of an introvert. During his early childhood, he established a close bond with his grandmother, who played a major role in raising him. After her passing in 2008, Metri vowed to improve his craft as he decided to embrace his skills while attending Brunswick High School. Eager to perform, he participated in multiple talent shows, including a 2nd place performance. He went on to release several mixtapes on DatPiff under his government name (Demetri Yates) later changing his artist name to Metri Christ in 2018.
In 2020, Metri Christ released his first album, “Zenith.” independently on all platforms. The 17-minute project was recorded at home due to COVID protocols. He considers the project a “Quarantine album”. Later that year, he released an EP, titled “GOD SUN.” As the world begins to re-open; the best is yet to come for Metri Christ.
