TanUp is a Zimbabwean born artist, DJ and producer based in Edmonton, Canada. Like a lot of the greatest artists, TanUp discovered his passion and talent for music at a very young age. Born Tanaka Chinyadza in Harare, Zimbabwe, he started his musical journey as a pianist at the age of eight. A year later, he got his first copy of FL Studio 3 on which he learned to make beats for the first time. At that time, he used to study and deconstruct gospel beats from his music teacher, Sha Mukimi a well-known gospel producer in Zimbabwe. From there, TanUp then diversified his repertoire to include different genres and became a DJ. He did his first big concert at a high school in Zimbabwe in 2007 when he was only in 6th Grade. Since then, he has been producing and djaying. When he saw how challenging it was to get people to use the beats he produced and sent out, he decided to switch his model and own his own music. Some of the people he has worked with include popular Zimbabwean artist, Andy Muridzo and REXTAN on the single, Zveipapo and Aurah Ariko on her single, Famba Neni. TanUp’s covers a wide range of different genres, doing everything including RnB, Amapiano, Afrobeats and Hip Hop.
