Vaisakh Somanath is an independent singer-songwriter based in Kochi (Kerala, India) who makes soulful tunes out of simple but thoughtful lyrics. He writes songs in multiple languages with almost always a philosophical bent in his songwriting style. He uses his knowledge in carnatic music to combine Indian elements of music with other genres like blues, folk, funk, soul, jazz and electronic music. Vaisakh's debut EP titled Thevai (which means need in Tamil) deals with alternative living concepts like sustainability, minimalism and alternative schooling. The 4-track soul/jazz EP got featured as one of the 10 Best Indian EPs of 2019 by Rolling Stone India.
