Rhett Rowan is a singer/songwriter/producer from Colorado. Her dreamlike, melancholy vignettes are usually bathed in 808s and lush synthesizers, if not completely stripped-back and acoustic. Her influences include the emo bands she grew up on, Lana del Rey, classic 1950s country, Porter Robinson, and numerous hip-hop artists. 2018’s “Evil Smile” EP set Rhett apart most notably as a lyricist, musing on mental illness, relationships, and insecurity with a powerful combination of emotional insight, tears, irony, and angst. The debut EP featured production from Dylan Brady (100 Gecs), Pnkblnkt, Connor Barkhouse, Mason Maxwell, and Rhett. Its singles were premiered by Apple Music's Beats 1 radio station and featured by MTV's TRL, Complex's Pigeons & Planes, VFILES, Noisey (VICE), and numerous independent music blogs. Since “Evil Smile,” Rhett has mostly stayed behind the scenes, “ghost” writing and topline writing for other artists. In early 2021, Rhett covered Doris Day's classic "Que Sera Sera" in the trailer campaign for "Underplayed,” a documentary discussing gender inequality in EDM, presented by Bud Light. In July 2023, Rhett’s single “Follow Your Heart” was released: a moody fever-dream from her world of “Happy Tears”. The song was written, recorded, produced, and mixed by Rhett.
