Biography

Born on June 8, 1970, Abadan. He is a graduate of literature from the University of Tehran. He has learned playing Tar and the Persian classical music from Jahanshah Saremi, Siamak Ne’mat Nasr, Hushang Zarif, Hossein Alizadeh, and Daryoush tala’i. He also has had experiences in film music and production and publication of musical works. He is one of the first members of the Ham-Avayan Ensemble. After a 10 years collaboration with Hossein Alizadeh, and by composing for three short films, he began his experiences in film music. Later he was introduced to Ali Rafi’i for his latest film “The Fish Won’t Fall in Love” (Mahiha Ashegh Nemishavand). In the spring of 2009 “A Taste of Iran” a documentary collection directed by Bahman Kiarostami and Mehrdad Oskou’i was broadcasted from BBC-Persian with his music. In 2005 and after “The Fish Won’t Fall in Love”, he was present at the Fajr Film Festival with two film music for two movies by Fereydun Jeyrani (Stars, Vol 1 & 3). He is the manager of music publication of the Kherad Art House institution, which received the title of The Best Music Publication of the year in 2015 at the third Musicema festival. In 2018 he founded the Payvar Foundation, a center for collecting, study, and publishing documents and archives of Iranian music. He is a member of the Film music Composers’ Association.
