Careful, the art pop project of producer Eric Lindley, grew out of the art rock and concert music community in LA—Lindley studied with composer James Tenney by day and played bills with acts like Xiu Xiu, Mount Eerie , Lavender Diamond, and Julia Holter by night. 
 Lindley created most of the sounds on all of the albums himself with both standard pop tools like guitar & piano, as well as folk harp, harmonium, toy piano, electronics, and in many cases a version of his voice digitally altered to sound like a woman’s. Live shows have included various collaborators over time, including members of Dawn of Midi, and Stephanie Richards (St. Vincent, David Byrne). 
 After shows in NYC and LA throughout the 2000s and early 2010s, Careful was dormant for almost a decade. Lindley had a child and worked full-time on, among other things, medical AI research, all the while quietly obsessed with storytelling and songwriting. 
 Lindley now lives in the SF bay area, and is releasing Careful’s fourth album, “Promise / Practice” in September 2023.
