Biography

UK based Christian singer/songwriter Lurine Cato MBE (pronounced Luh-reen Kay-toe) remains one of the most sought after independent vocal artists with that rare ability to appeal to a wide variety of audiences. Her distinctive brand of music is infused with inspirational undertones of faith, hope and love, a central theme to the material she writes that has resonated with an eclectic mix of music lovers. A 2013 MOBO Award recipient (Best Gospel Act) and 2017 MOBO nominee (Best Gospel Act), Lurine was a featured act at the 2017 MOBO Awards. 2018 saw her lead the B Positive Choir to the finals on the 12th season of Britain’s Got Talent on ITV.
Having worked in the industry for a number of years as a backing vocalist (including 2 world tours with Kylie Minogue), session singer and artist in her own right, Cato has worked with some of the industries’ top luminaries such as Mary J. Blige, Eric Clapton, Mariah Carey, Justin Timberlake, Leona Lewis, Adele, Enrique Iglesias, Andrea Bocelli, Signa, Hozier, Elton John and Susan Boyle as well as Gospel Music’s most successful artists such as Kirk Franklin, Kim Burrell and Donnie McClurkin.
In October 2020 Lurine was listed in HRH the Queen’s Birthday Honours List to receive an MBE for services to charity and music. - Keith Kirk
