Simon And The Astronauts – Featuring Rachel Haden The generational writing team of Simon Wells, Ben Hewerdine and Chris Pepper wanted a backing vocalist for a couple of tracks and found Rachel Haden. Completely knocked out by what they heard the focus of what they wanted to do changed. We asked Rachel if we could write her an album of material. We were overjoyed when she said yes. Due to recorded in England in between dates on the Haden Triplets tour of Europe the plan had to change as covid hit. Working remotely the quartet wrote, exchanged ideas and music. Simon reacting to what was going on in the world crafted lyrics to reflect the events of the day. Ben and Chris would incubate the ideas as we searched for new sonic landscapes for Rachel to fly over. What started as a studio project waits to tour?
