Paul Rein is a Swedish electropop artist, songwriter and music producer that peaked in popularity during the mid-'80s with a string of hit singles, most notably ”Lady-O”, ”Hold Back Your Love” and ”Stop (Give It Up)”. ”Lady-O" was also featured on the Spanish compilation Max Mix 4, a landmark for a Swedish artist back in the days. In 1988, he competed in Melodifestivalen, the Swedish qualifying heat for Eurovision Song Contest, with “Bara du och jag”. In the ’90s Paul Rein stepped out of the limelight to concentrate on writing and producing. His hit songs have enjoyed success on the Billboard charts, performed by vocalists such as Christina Aguilera, Jessica Simpson, Victoria Beckham, No Angels and Nikki Webster. He co-wrote Christina Aguilera’s Billboard #1 ”Come on Over (All I Want Is You)” with Johan Åberg, which received the prestigious ASCAP Pop Music Award in 2002. In 2016 he did his first stage performance in more than 25 years and started to release music in his own name again. These days he’s considered a Hi-Nrg icon in Mexico, where his ’80s singles are dance floor favorites. He also occasionally plays festivals and performs live to his loyal fanbase. Female electro artist REIN is the daughter of Paul Rein. Bio by Johan Arenbo & Niclas Blyh.
