Biography

Bob van der Houven was born in 1957 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. He lived there until he was eight years old with his Dutch parents and sister. His father worked as a jazz singer and musician for the American military stationed in Germany. Bob plays the piano and sings. He started writing songs at the age of 15. His Dutch-language debut album 'Alleen op Reis' was released in 1997. Five years later, as a tribute to his father, he recorded an album of jazz standards, 'The Very Thought of You'. And in 2022 'Far Away a Voice’ was released, with a selection of songs he wrote as a teenager, together with lyricist Tom Frohwein. Bob's voice has been known for decades as a narrator of TV documentaries, such as the 'Rail Away' series. And as the voice-actor who gave many cartoon characters their Dutch voice, like the nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie, in 'DuckTales', Stitch in 'Lilo & Stitch' and Dr. Doofenshmirtz in 'Phineas and Ferb'.
