Lane received her first big break in 2009, when ‘Place for Us’ -- the leadoff track from her debut album, Ready -- was picked as the theme song for VH1’s reality series Secrets of Aspen. An Oregon native, the fledgling Reni was given a thrift shop Casio keyboard by her mum and fell in love. When they moved to Virginia, she became the music teacher’s pet, dazzling in the drum line, jazz band, and orchestra. Teenage songwriting lead to working with a producer in New York City, where Lane began laying the foundation for a songwriting career. Weekly performances at the Sidewalk Café - the same Manhattan establishment that helped launch the careers of Suzanne Vega and Regina Spektor - earned her a growing audience, while several European tours spread that audience overseas. MTV caught on and included Lane in the network’s First Ladies of Rock ad campaign, which led to an offer from Linda Perry via Motown/Universal and culminated in the release of 2010’s Ready. In the years following Reni served time in synth-pop group Fever High and played sideman in friend’s bands (such as The Like and Howie Day) before taking on the roll as Razorlight's keyboard player in 2019. In that same year Lane returned to her solo work in the loft space of producer Patrick Canaday, who encouraged Reni (playing nearly all the instruments herself) to record material written over the expanse of many years. She soon after announced the release of ‘Love Too Soon,’ the first single from her upcoming 2021 EP.
